Day 6- Trip to the Landfill

Today in class we ventured off to the landfill to see how and where all the trash from Maryville, Alcoa, and Blount County is stored.  As we all know, our trip became quite interesting during our last stop when our van managed to get stuck in the mud (haha)!  So, Adrienne asked us to blog about what the environmental impacts or connections are that exist based on the way we, as a Western society, deal with our waste.  Well, first thing that comes to my mind is the fact that if we as a society don’t try to control our waste that we will run out of landfill space way too quickly.  Also, properly dealing with waste is important.  What if we just threw out our trash as we drove down the road?  First of all we could get fined for it, but more importantly it harms our environment; so, it’s crucial that we do deal with our waste correctly.
